The Development Scientist will support projects with the objective of developing real-time PCR assays intended to aid in the diagnosis of infectious diseases. Responsibilities include writing and executing experimental protocols to support project objectives, keeping accurate records and writing reports to communicate experimental findings, working with manufacturing and quality control to implement manufacturing and testing work instructions, and troubleshooting undesired assay performance. This is a one year grant position with benefits subject to a one year renewal.
Education & Experience
Ph.D. degree in chemistry, molecular biology or biochemistry or a related field, with 0-2 years applicable industry experience. Alternatively, Master's degree in same with 7+ years applicable research, industrial, or clinical laboratory experience and demonstrated working knowledge of scientific principles or Bachelor's degree in same with 11+ years applicable experience and knowledge.
Demonstrated proficiency with real-time PCR and reverse transcription preferred.
Fluent in one or more programming or scripting languages used to control instrumentation such as robotic pipettors.
Experience in product-oriented development under design control highly desirable.
Expertise in viral infectious disease testing and prior BSL2 work also highly regarded.
