Summary
Plans, schedules and monitors the movement of materials through the production cycle to determine required materials. Purchases materials, using production schedules to maintain inventory at planned levels. Gathers Quotations, examines bids and makes awards. Develops specifications for new contract orders. Obtains materials, components and equipment. Evaluates vendor reliability, develops new supply sources in which vendors and suppliers are inadequate. Monitors cost, schedule and scope of assigned subcontracts to assure best quality at best value.
Education & Experience
B.S. or equivalent experience plus five to eight years procurement experience as a buyer in an IVD or pharma production organization. This experience should include planning, scheduling and monitoring the movement of materials through the production cycle. This experience should also include providing procurement support to new product programs.
PC skills including basic word processing, spreadsheet and/or database software.
Minimum 2 years experience using an ERP system for planning and ordering materials.
Fourth Shift a plus.
GMP experience is a plus.
Ability to prioritize requests from multiple requestors.
Ability to work independently.
Excellent oral and written skills to effectively communicate and achieve Nanogen's requirements.
